As we all know, the weather in the UK can be dreadful and gloomy for most of the year. However, during the summer, there is a small period of a few weeks where the weather is sunny and warn. This is the perfect time to visit or spend one day on Brighton beach!
This past summer I went to Brighton Beach for my first time which is only about an hour from central London and, not only did I come home with a few pebbles, I had a wonderful time! I am here to recommend some great places you can go to visit and do in Brighton!
The Pebble Beach
Guide to the beach
The beach itself is pretty big so it wasn’t too packed with people when I went. I got to Brighton around 10 AM and there weren’t too many people there. They also allow food and drinks on the beach which is awesome. The beach is also pet-friendly so I was able to bring my puppy to the beach! The water itself was freezing at first, but, because it was so hot and sunny, the water was quite refreshing once you jumped in.
It was a bit difficult walking around in the water and around the beach as the beach is not a sandy beach. It is a pebble beach so be careful when walking around on pebbles! Especially when walking on wet pebbles! I slipped and fell a few times lol. Other than that, the beach was spectacular!
The Brighton boardwalk is also quite nice. It was full of people and dogs enjoying the rare UK sun. At the end of the boardwalk was the Brighton Pier which is a famous landmark in Brighton and the UK. The pier is full of games and an arcade for kids or anyone to enjoy.
At the end of the pier are amusement rides and roller coasters similar to rides in Coney Island in Brooklyn or the Santa Monica Pier in LA (both are really great landmarks to visit in New York and LA). Check out this cool picture I took in front of the pier:
After the pier, we took a short walk around Brighton. The town of Brighton is actually very colorful. I walked past these colorful houses/properties and just had to stop and take some pictures.
We then continued walking to the Brighton Pavilion which was only a 15-minute walk from the pier. The Pavilion has this really nice picnic garden where you can lay down and enjoy the sun similar to the garden at the Eiffel Tower. The Brighton Pavilion or Royal Pavilion is a historic landmark in Brighton and the UK.
It is well known in history for being a royal residence. Today, I don’t believe you can go inside the residence but there are many tourists who come by and take pictures and relax in the garden. Check out this picture I took in the garden with a great view of the Pavilion:
After the Pavilion, we went back to the beach to meet up with some family. On the way back to the beach, we picked up some great tasting pizza which was only a 5 min walk from the beach. The restaurant was called VIP Pizza Brighton and the food was great quality! You can eat in the restaurant or order for delivery/take out.
To end the day
To end a great day at Brighton, we enjoyed this great pizza while laying down and relaxing at the beach.
I absolutely recommend going to Brighton next summer. I was only there for one day, but I had a great time and will probably go back for a weekend. The train to Brighton from central London is only about an hour.
I went by car with some family and fortunately, finding parking wasn’t too hard nor too expensive. We parked at a car parking lot near the beach and paid about £10 for the entire day.
That’s all from me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog and please add Brighton as a summer spot for next year.
